Nitrome!

So I used to go to miniclip a lot to play some random games. And then, brace yourselves, I discovered Nitrome! Nitrome creates awesome games with those cool pixel-y effects. And most of the games have cool twists that set them apart from all the others. I can never wait for their next game to come out so I can play it.

Design By Humans

Ok guys, check this out. There's this T-shirt business online called DesignByHumans. It's sort of like Threadless, as in account members design the t-shirts and Design by Humans prints and sells them. Their T-shirts are pretty much awesome! I got this one called "Blackbird's Attackin' in the Dead 'O' Night." It's hand printed so every shirt is unique. If you're going to buy one though, keep in mind that their sizes run a little small.

Bluehouse Group

Hello again everyone. I apologize for my lazy lack of posting, hah. Today I visited a web design group based near Burlington, Vermont. It was quite a refreshing experience. Just the office space is inspirational. The brightly painted walls are decorated with cool graphic design-ish posters. And sweet Simpsons, Futurama and other figurines/knickknacks are placed about. Plus, they have a bunch of Macs (love!). As you can imagine, living in Vermont, places like Bluehouse Group are hard to find. It's so fun when you stumble upon things like this in the most unlikely places.

Modcloth rules!

Modcloth is an online store that sells all kinds of clothing, accessories and apartment items. They have a very unique style, I would say a sort of vintage, urban outfitters style. I love it! They also have a One of a kind section on their online store, for those wanting to be super-unique, haha.

Linkin' Park, Coheed and Cambria, Chiodos

Oh my goodness! Last night (February 22, 08) My best friend, my brother and his friend and I went to The Bell Center, Montreal to see Chiodos, Coheed and Cambria, and Linkin' Park. So when we got there we had to wait in line for a bit and Chiodos, the band we were going there to see, started playing while we were outside. NOOO, so we missed a song or two by them. But they were still AMAZING! And then we left our seats to go get autographs from Chiodos, and we got to meet them and Craig signed out shirts. It was nothing short of amazing. We also told them they should go to Vermont, hehe.
So then Coheed and Cambria started playing, while we were in line to get autographs. They were pretty good I thought.
Then there was Linkin' Park. Normally I don't like their music that much, but they were really good on stage. I would definitely recommend seeing them, even if you don't totally love their music.

Here are a few pictures of Chiodos, enjoy!

PingMag

"PingMag in one word: Inspiration.

PingMag in one sentence: About Design and Making Things!

PingMag in detail: PingMag is an online design magazine based in Tokyo. Defining the term design as broadly as we can, PingMag writes about ideas and inspiration coming from both world class designers, and from the little store on the corner. We look at everything; product design, packaging, architecture, web design, typography, illustration, photography, fashion, programming, graphics, video, art, toys, traditional crafts, graffiti, set design…. anything, in fact, that we consider inspiring and we think will excite you too.

We’re sure that there is so much to be learnt from both the very big fish, and from the amazing local artist you’ve never heard about before. And a rapidly growing readership proves that we can’t be too wrong! Design is unlimited. It can be found in anything, anywhere, anytime. PingMag has the honor to spend time finding those treasures and talking to those people who put love and thought into creating." -The About section of PingMag

Street Installations by Mark Jenkins

Ahhh! Lookie at what I found. This artist who does this sort of street art by making sculptures and placing them in random places. The artist, Mark Jenkins, calls them "Street Installations." I only wish the town I live in was this cool.

Stanislav Katz

This is called SpiderTable, but it reminds me more of one of the shapes from Tetris.

Stanislav Katz is a furniture company that designs really funky modern furniture. Like that bookshelf above, pretty much amazing right?

LoopyBoopy

My brother and I used to play with polymer clay a while ago just to make little people or birthday gifts. We never quite go the hang of it though. But today I found this one shop on Etsy. It's called Loopyboopy and they make really cool figurines. Their figures are really creative and almost a little bit creepy, but in a good way. I only wish I could be this good.

Aromaleigh Cosmetics and Aromatics

In addition to being interested in photography, drawing and fashion, i like makeup. Not necessarily putting it on to get all "glammed up." I like make up for the art of it, you can get creative with it. You can get especially creative with this makeup that I came across a little while ago. The company is called Aromaleigh. They have a bunch of beauty products, but what sparks my interest the most are the eye shadows. They have a line of shadows called "Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow." They come in a ton of colors that are very vibrant and colorful. the site also has a bunch of pictures submitted by users showing just how creative you can get. The only trouble is picking out which colors to get!

Free Rice!

My English teacher told our class about this website that donates rice if you answer vocabulary questions correctly. It's called FreeRice. You are given a word and you have to choose the best definition out of 4 other words (multiple choice). For every word you define correctly, 20 grains of rice are donated to the United Nations to help fight world hunger. It says on the site that a total of about 17,461,100,870 grains of rice have been donated so far! You should join in too! You don't need to create and account or give them your e-mail address or anything, just go to the site and start donating. Plus, you're learning while donating. It's like killing two birds with one stone, haha.

My DeviantArt!

Yay! A while back, on the fourth of July actually, I made a DeviantArt account that I pretty much forgot about. So a few days ago I finally added my first deviation, or image (art, let's hope). I have several deviations now. They aren't my favorites, and I wish I could add more. But that would present a problem as ALL of my pictures that were saved on my school computer account got deleted after the semester ended. So now I have to start all over again. Great. I hope to have more online soon though. There are quite a few pieces that I made in my drawing class that will hopefully be submitted soon also.

Blik

"What is blik you ask? blik is an I.D. Magazine award-winning* line of surface graphics created by and for people who like to change their mind. These self-adhesive wall decals (think stickers for grown-ups) allow you to easily transform the look of a living or office space in minutes. Affix blik to any smooth, flat surface such as a wall, window, mirror, ceiling, tabletop or floor. Choose your space, plan the design you'd like to make, and literally, just peel and stick. And when you're tired of your design, say after years, a month, maybe a day - the decals are removable."

This is perfect! I tend to change my mind a lot about my living space. I have to switch things up frequently. These wall decals are just what I need. They're sort of like stickers and you can put them on your walls, in an office a living room, wherever! Plus, they have a ton of different designs to use, even some from threadless, the t-shirt company. And, they have a special group of them to stick on glass.

CarrotBox

"The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite and even stone — anything, as long as it's not metal!" So I found this site just today just looking around. Their rings are really really cool. It turns out that the maker of the site is allergic to most types of metal so they made this site. They have a really artistic and funky style. Plus, they are fairly inexpensive compared to what else is out there these days. Can you say good birthday gift? I think I will get one for my friend who has a birthday coming up.

Threadless T-shirts

A long time ago I found this website called Threadless T-shirts. They let users submit their own designs and score other designs. The designs with the highest ratings get printed and sold. But you have to check out some of these t-shirts. They're amazing, and a few of them are quite funny. Plus, I actually have one t-shirt from here and it is really comfortable, for those "I don't feel like dressing up today, days..." Yeah just look at the t-shirts.

Runner Bean

Just a few minutes ago I was browsing etsy in the local artists section when I stumbled upon a company called "RunnerBean." So I clicked on one of their items for sale, thinking it was a wooden figurine or something, and then BAM! I looked closer and realized that it was a tiny little toy made entirely of rolled up paper. The company has a few jewelery pieces, some figurines and some cards and envelopes. I am super impressed with their paper paper dolls. You have to see this.

Bucks Rock

So this summer I am going to a sleepover camp for a month. It's called Buck's Rock. Hopefully this one will be better in comparison to the YMCA summer camps (ick). Here's the good part-the camp is a performing and visual arts camp! They have tons of different things to do from digital photography to painting, making jewelery, acting, or spelunking. Yeah, so I'm pretty excited. They also have a sewing shop, which is awesome because I want to improve my sewing skills. The thing that makes bucks rock unique from other art camps is the freedom they allow campers. When you wake up in the morning you have a choice of any one of the 30 or so shops (activities such as painting, sewing etc.). I can't wait!

Savage Muse

So today I was looking on Etsy, this amazing site that hosts DIY designers, and I found this designer that sells jewelery. They have sort of a grunge/industrial style. Their jewlery is really unique though. Their items are made of anything from hemp to real bugs. It's pretty sweet. The designer is called Savage Muse. They have an Etsy and a Myspace.
Hope you like it!

Postlapsaria

Ok, so I will probably be posting a lot of clothing sites on here because that's just what I like the best. Having my own business is my goal one day.
So I found this site a little while ago. Their clothes are very clean cut and simple, but they still have amazing style. "Postlapsaria.com is dedicated to creating and distributing products that stimulate an aesthetic appeal in people who appreciate sub-culture." I have never bought any clothes from the site, but I still like just look at them for inspiration.

Softies

So a few months ago I was browsing through the craft section at Barnes and Noble's when I cam across this book called "Softies." Apparently Softies are the latest craze in Japan. They are tiny handmade plush toys. There are a ton of websites and blogs that are just for Softies. I would definitely recommend this book. Plus, it comes with a bunch of patterns in the back so you can make any one of the Softies included in the book!
Oh! And you should check out this blog all about Softies

Winter Ball 2 (The morning after)

So it's now 12 hours after winter ball. My friends have already left and I'm stuck at home, pretty much alone, listening to music and just hanging out. The dance was amazing. They mostly played hip hop music-ick-like all of the other dances. Oh! and that cotton eye joe song, and the redneck woman one. Ahhhh, only in Vermont. But they played some good music, like that What is Love song-love it. Pictures will be up soon, I have to upload them or get them from other people.

Winter Ball

The winter ball for my school is tonight at the Sheraton. So far I have gotten my hair done and my dress all picked out. All that remains is to wait for my friends to come and get dressed. I'll probably post pictures in a few days.

Bored?

I found this game a while back. The site has a bunch of games like this Grow Cube one. It's all about actions and the reaction. It's pretty interesting to watch what happens after you make certain moves in the game. The site is called Eyezmaze, and they have a few other games you should check out also.

Need Inspiration?

I have the perfect site. deviantART is a site dedicated to helping artists of all kinds show off their work. There are thousands of artists who do anything from photography to cartooning. I go here a lot for just inspiration, or maybe using a picture for a school project instead of using those crappy clip-art pictures. :D

They also sell prints, yay!

Official.

I'm now and official blogger! woohoo!

Hi, my name is Zoie.
This is my first blog. I am interested in fashion-y art stuff. I find a lot of websites that are dedicated to art, fashion, or just awesome little gadgets and whatnot. So why not share it with you, right?
